Regional Theme Park Entertainment Provider – A Case Study
The client is a popular regional theme park and out of home media entertainment provider company. They relied on a VFP 6 application that collected and processed revenue for their cash control and daily operations. This application had 8 main modules, 36 sub-modules and was deployed on 13 individual servers.
The challenge was to create a web-based system with no change to the input and output of the data and minimal impact on existing database structure and historic data. Macrosoft's Visual FoxPro analyst team performed a detailed source code analysis and created specification documents using our proprietary SpecGen tool. These documents were used by the development team for development activities and QA team used these documents for writing test cases for each of the modules. Throughout the development, Macrosoft ensured to use the same database. Our client’s legacy application used SQL Server 2005 database which Macrosoft team migrated to SQL Server 2016. This project’s success was in making an effective project plan to build a web-based application ensuring our client a smooth transition to the .NET environment with zero downtime.
