As multiple calls followed, it became clear that this was a widespread issue. Immediate checks revealed that the company's external connections, including its website and webmail, were down. However, the VPN remained operational, allowing access to internal servers and confirming that all files were encrypted, thus corroborating an active ransomware attack.
